Many members of younger generations engage in job surfing as they attempt to find a career that suits them well. In order to appeal to, retain, and accurately place these employees, your organization can consider allowing young employees to “try out” different positions in your organization. Not only will they get the experience of job surfing without leaving your organization, but they will also appreciate the opportunity to find what fits them best and have increase loyalty to the company as they develop careers. Your organization will benefit from increased retention, greater success placing the right person in the right position, and improved understanding between different positions as employees have experienced different departments, jobs, and demands.
