0161 – Challenges with Temporary Workers

Updated: August 21, 2009

An External Weakness Relating to the Labour Supply

Employers may hire temporary workers for any number of reasons, but as the number of workers increases, so do the challenges associated with a transient workforce. The government often has regulations applying to employing temporary workers that need to be taken into consideration and can be complicated to decipher. Your labour supply may not be consistent, steady, or reliable at all times. Quality of product or service may also be a problem as temporary workers do not receive the same level of training, experience, and confidence as permanent workers. Account for all of the challenges specific to your organization when growing your temporary workforce.

Insights classified as “external” are those deemed to be affected by employees, market forces, competition, or other factors not directly controllable by policy or action of the company or management.
